DILI, 22 September 2025 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste will take part in the 17th edition of the Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Macau Forum). The event runs from September 26 to November 18, 2025.
Under the theme “Three Cities – Cultural Resonance: Maximizing the Synergistic Impact of Sino-Lusophone Cultural Brands”, this year’s edition will, for the first time, be held in three locations — Macau, Zhongshan (Guangdong Province), and Beijing — expanding the scope of the event and strengthening cultural cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
The Cultural Week forms part of the Forum’s Action Plan for Economic and Trade Cooperation and highlights Macau’s role as “One Platform, One Base”, bridging East and West while promoting cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and closer ties among peoples.
This year, Timor-Leste will be represented by the music band Salurik, which will perform in Macau, Zhongshan, and Beijing, as well as artisan Joaquim Surameli, a Timorese sculptor who will showcase his works at the Fisherman’s Wharf Handicraft Fair in Macau.
The program features music and dance performances, a handicraft fair, culinary demonstrations, film screenings, book launches, visual arts exhibitions, workshops, and interactive activities.
The opening ceremony will take place on September 26 at Fisherman’s Wharf in Macau, bringing together artistic groups from China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
