DILI, 26 September 2025 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos-Horta, held a meeting with the Representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Timor-Leste, Jacqueline de Groot.
The discussion centered on the progress and future direction of the Global Task Force for Social Protection and Nutrition, a significant international initiative co-chaired by President Ramos-Horta and the President of Chile.
The meeting served to review the activities undertaken since the Task Force’s launch and to strategize on the next steps of its mission.
The Global Task Force was established to develop a global platform to promote integrated social protection and nutrition policies. Its main objectives are to give countries like Timor-Leste a stronger voice on the world stage in the fight against malnutrition and to facilitate peer-to-peer learning among nations facing similar challenges. By sharing successful strategies and best practices, the initiative aims to accelerate progress in social development and nutrition globally.
President Ramos-Horta expressed his firm support for the work being carried out and recommended the continuation and expansion of the Task Force’s activities.
The President of the Republic reaffirms his unwavering commitment to this cause, underscoring Timor-Leste’s leadership role in fostering international cooperation to tackle the critical issues of food security and malnutrition for the world’s most vulnerable populations.
