DILI, 08 October 2025 (TATOLI) – The governments of Timor-Leste and Malaysia are set to formalize an agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of information and media development.
To this end, the Council of Ministers has authorized Secretary of State for Social Communication Expedito Ximenes to sign the partnership with Malaysian Minister of Communications Ahmad Fahmi Fadzil.
The agreement will be signed on the sidelines of the upcoming ASEAN Summit, scheduled to take place from 24 to 26 October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of information and media, promoting the exchange of experiences, the development of technical capacities, and digital innovation in the sector,” the government said in a statement.
According to the statement, the planned areas of cooperation include digital transformation and innovation in information and media; the sharing of information policies and regulatory practices; news and content exchange; collaboration in broadcasting and television technology; training and human resource development; as well as cooperation in film and documentary production.
