DILI, 08 january 2026 (TATOLI) — Timor-Leste Migration Service collected more than US$2.4 million in 2025 for the state treasury. This is higher than the US$2 million collected in 2024.
“The money came from issuing and renewing visas, granting residence permits, and collecting fines,” said Adelaide da Rosa, Director-General of the Migration Service, during a press conference in Vila Verde, Dili.
She said the Migration Service issued 11,797 new visas, approved 9,355 visa renewals, and granted 1,583 residence permits.
In addition, the Migration Service handled 585 administrative cases, including one expulsion, 35 criminal cases, and 116 voluntary departures.
The service also recorded 396,290 people entering Timor-Leste and 412,173 leaving the country.
She explained that 126 foreigners were denied entry for not meeting legal requirements, while 38 people were repatriated, including 26 for domestic violence and 12 due to death.
Rosa said the Migration Service is committed to upgrading infrastructure at border posts, improving border control systems, and enhancing visa and public services.
