DILI, 13 July 2026 (TATOLI) – DILI, 13 July 2026 (TATOLI) – Embassy staff joined the Ministry of Health (MOH) and local authorities on July 7 for the launch of community health volunteer training in Holarua village, Manufahi.

Ministry and local officials expressed appreciation for U.S. support in making critical healthcare services more accessible to mothers and children in rural areas.

The U.S.-funded ACHIEVE Timor-Leste Project is training 20 volunteers across five villages to identify health concerns and improve care related to maternal and child health, nutrition, and communicable and non-communicable diseases — while the MOH simultaneously trains staff in three additional villages, demonstrating government ownership and project sustainability.

“Working alongside the Government of Timor-Leste, municipal leaders, and community representatives, the project strengthens essential health services, supports frontline health workers, and expands community outreach across the Same Administrative Post through September,” said in a statement.

Part of an eight-year global initiative implemented in Timor-Leste by Palladium as part of a Pact-led consortium, ACHIEVE reaffirms U.S. commitment to building a prosperous, healthy, and self-reliant Timor-Leste.
