AEMTL achieves its five strategic plans in 2022

DILI, 27 december 2022 (TATOLI)- The Women Employers’ Organization of Timor-Leste (AEMTL) achieved five strategic plans in 2022.

President of AEMTL, Hergui Lina Alves said, these strategic plans were implemented from 2017 to 2022.

“During my mandate as president of AEMTL period 2017 for 2022, we have achievement five strategic plans, namely institutional reinforcement, Empowerment and development of women’s businesses, International and national market accessibility, Group Consolidation, Strengthening partnerships for internal and external relationships’’ President of AEMTL 2017 to 2022, Hergui Luina Alves told journalists at Ocean Beach Pantai Kelaga, tuesday.

During the implementation of the strategic plan, Luina highlighted the specific achievements made by AEMTL, saying AEMTL was successfully processing legal registration at the Minister of Justice.

“Previously we had limited office equipment and today we have our own office with the equipment, that we can distribute to the vocal points in 12 municipalities. Equipment composed of laptops and other types of equipment,”She said.

AEMTL and partners were able to conduct a Training of Entrepreneurship (ToE), for the vulnerable groups of women survivors, LGBTI, persons with disabilities, and other groups to develop business ideas and start their businesses so that they could be more economically independent.

With this program, AEMTL has registered 200 businesswomen including 50 board members.

AEMTL also introduced Timorese unique Ancestral Tourism to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

However, Alves also acknowledges the challenges faced by AEMTL, during the implementation of these programs.

“The big challenge that AEMTL faced is financial resources for administration for technical staff of the development of institutional and we mostly depend on board members for implementing AEMTL institutional program and also on financial aid from development partners,’’ She explained.

Meanwhile, the President of CCITL, Jorge Manuel Serrano congratulates the good progress that has been made by AEMTL.

“I encourage all Timorese entrepreneurs’ women to work hard with a great dedication for better development on business to get more revenue and contribute for country economy diversification,’’ He said.

So far, The Associação Empresarial das Mulheres Timor-Leste (AEMTL) is the Timor-Leste Business-women Association with the mission to promote and empower entrepreneurs and business women ready to compete and succeed in Timor-Leste’s emergent Private sector.

AEMTL is determined to introduce new trends into Private Sector’s current dynamic: more ownership to reduce dependency on public projects, more structured and professional businesses, the real productive sector, and an effective alternative to Public Sector in job creation and income generation, and explore innovative and creative ways of doing business in Timor-Leste.

Given the critical role women play in family welfare, AEMTL will directly contribute to poverty reduction and will effectively contribute to the sustainable economic growth of the nation.
