DILI, 11 June 2026 (TATOLI) — ASEAN member states have reaffirmed their commitment to developing a stronger and more inclusive regional community, as officials concluded the second day of the 15th Ad Hoc Working Group (AHWG) meeting on the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Strategic Plan in Dili.
The meeting was jointly organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, SOCA-TL, the ASEAN Secretariat and the Aus4ASEAN programme.
It focused on strengthening regional collaboration, sharing best practices and building consensus on the ASCC Strategic Plan, a key pillar supporting ASEAN Vision 2045.
Delegates from ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste sectoral bodies exchanged experiences on national planning, data management, stakeholder engagement, and implementation mechanisms to support ASEAN Vision 2045.
Discussions highlighted the importance of evidence-based policymaking, reliable data systems, cross-sectoral coordination, and inclusive consultations in shaping a people-centred ASEAN Community.
The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment of ASEAN Member States to work together in advancing the ASCC Results Framework, enhancing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and strengthening regional cooperation for sustainable and inclusive development.
Looking ahead, ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat would continue refining the ASCC Results Framework through a series of regional validation workshops and consultations in the coming months.
The Ministry extend its appreciation to all delegates and co-chairs, sectoral body representatives, the ASEAN Secretariat, and Aus4ASEAN for their valuable contributions, collaboration, and support. Together, we are building a stronger ASEAN Community for future generations.
