DILI, 18 June 2026 (TATOLI) – The Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs and Acting Prime Minister, Mariano Assanami Sabino, emphasized on Thursday the importance of continued investment in education and skills development, describing Timorese youth as the future of the nation.
He made the remarks during the certificate presentation ceremony for graduates of the 17th edition of the Center of Naroman Training (CONT), held at Salão Esperança in Delta under the theme, “Empowering Youth Through English Capacity Building.”
In his address, Mariano Assanami Sabino highlighted the critical role of young people in national development, stressing that the Government will continue to support initiatives led by youth volunteers that contribute to building a more creative, innovative and participatory society.
The Acting Prime Minister recalled that the Ninth Constitutional Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, has adopted a people-centered approach to development, emphasizing the importance of investing in the education and capacity-building of future generations.
He also congratulated CONT for its contribution to the training and development of Timorese youth, noting that the institution has become an established part of the country’s training and skills-development landscape.
According to Mariano Assanami Sabino, this recognition will enable the training center to access funding opportunities available to civil society organizations, creating prospects for expanding its programs to rural communities across Timor-Leste.
The event brought together graduates, government officials, institutional representatives and invited guests to celebrate another milestone in strengthening the linguistic and professional skills of Timorese youth.
