DILI, 19 june 2023 (TATOLI) – Isabel Ruak, the wife of Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, has died at the age of 49.
Isabel Ruak was pronounced dead by doctors from National Hospital Guido Valadares at 20:48 TLH in her residence in Metiaut Dili.
The Oncology Specialist Doctor, João Teodoro Amaral said Isabel Ruak took her last breath on Sunday 18 June 2023, at 20.48 Timor-Leste hour, at her residence, Metiaut Dili.
“We are a team of Oncology specialist Doctors, responsible for providing medical care to Ms. Isabel Ruak Fereira Da Costa. Our team would like to officially announce the death of the Prime Minister’s wife to the public,” said NHGV Oncology specialist, João Teodoro Amaral at a press conference, held in Metiaut, Dili.
According to specialists, her death was caused by end-stage colon cancer. So, this matter was not justified by the head of the medical team.
Ferreira and Taur Matan Ruak married in May 2001 and the couple has three children, one boy and two girls.
The late Ferreira has recently turned 49 years old. During this time, she is been working as a legal expert, human rights activist, and politician of Timor Leste and became a female presidential candidate in 2022 period.
