DILI, 05 September 2025 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Justice has requested more than one million U.S. dollars in the 2026 State Budget to purchase 75,000 passport booklets.
The Director-General of the National Registry and Notary (NDRN), Agostinho Gonçalves Viera, said the new booklets will be supplied by Thales, a Finnish company that has been responsible for previous procurements.
“The partnership with Thales continues. We have already contacted the company and are now waiting for the approval of next year’s budget. We are expecting to begin the acquisition process in March next year,” Viera told Tatoli in Dili.
He added that the department currently has a stock of 63,000 booklets, which will be enough to meet demand until the end of this year.
