DILI, 28 december 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Justice (MoJ), together with the Ministry of Social, Solidarity, and Inclusion (MoSSI), today celebrated a Christmas party together with 449 prisoners at the Becora prison.
“Christmas would bring us joy and peace. Peace must begin within the private world of each of us. Christmas brings hope, so for all prisoners must serve their time in prison well and learn valuable things to give back to society when they are released from the prison,” said Manuel Cárceres da Costa in his remarks at the Christmas gathering, at Becora, in Dili, on monday.
Costa apologized for not attending the Christmas gathering with the prisoners in Gleno and Suai: “I wish them a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2022.”
At the same place, the Director-General of MoSSI, Rui Manuel Gago Exposto said that the joint Christmas celebration was held every year.
“So far, MoSSI has been accompanying the prisoners, by facilitating the families of prisoners to visit them in the prison,” he said.
“On on behalf of MoSSI, I would like to extend my Christmas greetings and a Happy New Year to all prisoners, hoping that 2022 will bring them peace, joy, and changes to their life.
The Director of Becora Prison, João Domingos thanked MoJ and MoSSI for the joint Christmas celebration.
“We are very grateful to MoSSI and MJ for all the support given to us to realize this joint Christmas celebration. This support would bring changes to each prisoner,” he said.
