Mozambique Beats Cape Verde in Women’s Beach Volleyball at CPLP Games

DILI, 20 July 2025 (TATOL) – Mozambique’s Women’s Beach Volleyball team defeated Cabo Verde 2–1 in a thrilling match at the 12th CPLP Games, held at Dili Municipal Stadium on Sunday, July 20, 2025.

In the first set, the Mozambique team, led by Auria and Alaima Ama Mahumane, narrowly defeated Cape Verde’s duo of Catalina and Maria with a score of 22–20.

Cape Verde bounced back in the second set, showing renewed strength and focus to dominate with a convincing 21–11 win, pushing the match into a decisive third set.

Fortunately for Mozambique, they managed to regain control in the final set, edging out their opponents 15–13 to secure a hard-fought victory.

After the match, Alaima Ama Mahumane shared her excitement: “I feel very happy about our first win.”

“It was a tough and challenging game, but luckily we managed to come out victorious. It was a spectacular and friendly match,” she added.

Mozambique is scheduled to face Timor-Leste on Monday, July 21, while Cape Verde will take on Portugal on the same day.
