New State of Emergency: Citizens who arrive in Timor-Leste with a COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate will not fulfill mandatory quarantine

DILI, 29 april 2021 (TATOLI)—The Government Council of Ministers approves the decree-law number 24/2021 presented by the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Government decree contains the measures to be implemented for level 13th of the State of Emergency across all territories in Timor-Leste between march 03 in force until June 01, 2021.

“It is concluded that the residents arriving from abroad with the complete covid-19 vaccine certificates, will not fulfill the mandatory quarantine,” The President for the Council of Minister, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães said after the Council Meeting yesterday.

He added that, the residents inside the country who wish to travel to municipalities are required to take the swab testing, before leaving the city.

“However, residents who will be completed their second dose of vaccine will guarantee their movement to the municipalities with continue to maintain the measure implemented by Ministry of Health for the sanitary fence,” he said.

Likewise, he said, other rules are to maintain a distance of about one meter with others who have no common economic activities.

“Residents who wish visit the public and private places, are a force to wear the face masks and washing hands,” Magalhães said.

At the same time he explained, The public administration, industries are also continuing to have functioned but there is an obligation to prevent the group from gathering in the public streets.
