Dili, 1 september 2023 (TATOLI)– Special Olympic Heath SOHF having health screening for over 50 disabled athletes to identify health cases before joining the national tournament in Timor-Leste.
Program Coordinator, Geroldino Da Costa said the objective of the screening activities is to identify health issues for each athlete before participating in some tournament in Timor-Leste.
“ Today we have screening activity for over 50 disabled children to find out for any different health issues and will transfer to the two parts as National Hospital of GuidoValadares (HNGV) and to the National Rehabilitation Center (NRC) for further health treatment,’’ Program Coordinator, Geroldino Da Costa told journalists in system Alma convent, Pantai Kelapa, Friday.
He added that the doctor will recommend to the athletes to have a rehabilitation process to improve body balance and flexibility.
Thus, Health screening activity helped Special Olympics to categorize athletes to join different kinds of sports such as boxing, soccer ball, and other sports.
In the same place, Therapy Responsible, Sister ALMA Convet, Makrina Lewo said the children’s health screening is most important to find out if any kind of disease affects their health.
“We help the Special Olympic team to have screening for children physical and mental. We have screened for all kinds of diseases such as mental diseases, autism hyperactivity Down syndrome disease, and others.,” he said.
The Special Olympics will classify each child as deserving to join in which sports activity. They intended to develop children’s sports skills and promote them to participate in national and international sports events.
Health screening activity is done in one whole day on the first of September 2023, in Sisters ALMA convent Pantai Kelapa.
This activity is funded by Special Olympic International through the Golisano Foundation total of $.2.000 and Con Finance from the Minister of Social Solidarity is $. 1.000 And worth 3.000 USD
