DILI, 24 february 2022 (TATOLI)—Tradeinvest Timor-Leste confirmed that Pelican Paradise will be commencing big investment projects in the tourism sector in early april 2022.
The Executive Director TradeInvest Timor-Leste, Arcanjo da Silva confirmed that the Pelican Paradise Company will begin the investment project soon. The project will be officially launched in early april. This investment is based on the agreement that was made and determined between Pelican Paradise Company and the Government of Timor-Leste.
Director Arcanjo said that Pelican Paradise Company has sent a letter to the Timor-Leste government for the commencement of the construction.
“According to an early letter sent to Coordinating Minister of Economy affairs (MKAE), Joaquim do Amaral, and Minister of the Presidency of the council of the minister (MPCM), Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães. The letter said that the investor team will arrive in the country in two weeks and they will begin the construction in early April. In two more weeks, the team will be available in Timor-Leste,” The Director of Tradeinvest, Arcanjo to Tatoli at the office, TradeInvest, Comera.
He said that on last january 3, 2022, the Government of Timor-Leste and the Pelican Paradise Group Company signed a special investment agreement. It deals with lease and assignment of benefit declarations.
The government has provided three certifications for the Pelican Paradise, on the different types of certificates of Declaration of Benefit consisting of Pelican Ahava, Unip.Lda; Pelican Elior, Unip. Lda and Pelican Adara Reserve.
“Pelican Paradise has three different blocks and based on existing laws, the Company is given 90 days after receiving the certificate. Thus, the project will be started at the end of March or in early april 2022,” he explained.
Mr. Silva confirmed that the Pelican Paradise Group would start the project because they had already committed to signing a partnership with the TL Government.
With this investment, Pelican Paradise will provide job opportunities for 1,500 workers for building construction. Therefore, 1,300 staff will be employed for permanent jobs.
Pelican paradise has the responsibility to reforested and restore the environment to avoid climate hazards.
Pelican Paradise is provided with 700 million USD for the investment. It is estimated that 80% of the total area will be reforested and the environment restored.
It will develop an integrated tourism complex, with a total area of approximately 558 hectares, located between the Tasi tolu and Tibar areas, which will be investing in the hotel, golf fields, residency, youth development center, international school, international hospital, and commercial center.
