DÍLI, July 31, 2020 (TATOLI) – The parliaments have begun a recess period starting this Friday through until September 14.

The Deputy Secretary from TL National Parliament, António Nobre Tilman, said that the recess would allow Members to communicate with the militants, listen to the people’s concern and be able to relate this to the Government as a means to find a solution.

Adérito Hugo da Costa, the CNRT former member of Parliament, said he would take advantage of the time off to make and conduct a survey on the problems of people.

“I have a very busy agenda to fulfil requests of voters because the people elected us,” he said.

David Dias Ximenes, FRETILIN deputy, recalled that the recess is a right of parliamentarians.

The National Parliament approved the extension on 13 July to push the recess back until 30 July. This extension vote passed with 51 votes in favour and without a vote against or abstentions.
