12.500 tonnes of rice is imported to Dili from Vietnam

DILI, 07 September 2020 (TATOLI)-  Second import of rice from Vietnam arrived at Dili port yesterday (07, 08,2020).

“Around 12.5 tonnes of rice reached on the shores yesterday,” the President of National Logistic Center (NLC) Agusto Junior Trindade told Tatoli at his office.

The Government purchased rice from Vietnam. The total amount of rice is 30 tons, and 18.5 tons of rice has already been imported to Dili. There is still a wait for the other 11.5 tons continues.

According to Mr Trindade, the rice will not be directly brought to the NCL warehouse, because the port team will transfer other materials ahead of the rice.

“We will wait for the port team to transfer all the materials that had arrived ahead of rice, once this is done we will get the 12.5 tonnes of rice,” he said.

The first 6.000 tons of rice was imported from Vietnam had arrived in Dili on August 12 via MY HUNG ships.

There a multiple people and partners involved with this including the National Commerce Bank of Timor-Leste (BNCTL), World Food Program (WFP), the Authority of Inspection, Oversight for Activity of Economic Sanitation (AIFAESA), custom house, Immigration, Quarantine, Health Team and Police.
