USAID and UNICEF announces health promotion equipment to be delivered to seven municipalities

COVALIMA, 09 September 2020 (TATOLI)– UNICEF and USAID announced 14 items of Health Promotion Equipment to seven Health Service Center within seven Municipalities.

The materials include, projectors, screens, DVD players, televisions, and television cases, sound systems, computers, printers, information boards, utensils for cooking demonstrations.

These materials will be distributed to Suai health Center, Fohorem, Fatumean, Tilomar, Fatululik, Zumalai and Maucatar.

“UNICEF and the United States are very delighted to support the Minister of Health to ensure the health priorities of all Timorese to be a centre to focus on, despite the fact that all the organization and country are setting the effort in responding to COVID-19,” UNICEF Representative to Timor-Leste,Valérie Taton, at Covalima polo hall.

Ms. Taton added these supporters will help the health professionals to do their work and share the information to the community regarding the health promotion and prevention of COVID-19.

The Head of United Nation Mission in Timor-Leste, Elias Parra, said this equipment is funded by the United State to the amount of $500.000 as a means of prevention for COVID-19 in Timor-Leste also as the partnership between UNICEF, USAID and Ministry of Health.

He added, the work that UNICEF doing as the support from the United Nation is to strengthen the prevention toward the infection, and controlling the entire health facilities.

The Representative of Health Ministry, Alipio Gusmão, said the support will help develop the health sector to become better.

“Ministry of Health had received this promotion equipment, and the Minitry will compromise to show the work responding to COVID-19, and we also thanked the UNICEF and USAID for the support and help in protecting and promote the entire population’s health in Timor-leste during difficult time,” Mr. Gusmão said.
