COVID-19: Timor-Leste return to free active cases

DILI, 21 September 2020 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste is free from covid-19 cases, without a new confirmed cases, with the last new positive test on August 26.

General Coordinator of COVID-19, Ministry of Health, Dr Odete Viegas da Silva confirmed yesterday that no patient is remained in isolation at the Vera Cruz clinic with the virus.

However a 23 years patient Indonesian citizen with confirmed case has now recovered and will return to his residents.

Timor-Leste has been spared the widespread outbreaks of neighboring countries. Just 27 people have contracted the virus compared with more than 248.852 in Indonesia, and almost 26,912 in Australia.

There have also been no cases of community transmission in Timor-Leste; however, just 6.718 people have been tested so far.

6.531 are negatives to covid-19, total people in quarantine are 1,218 while 4.228 people have completed their mandatory quarantine.

There have been no reported deaths associated with the outbreak in Timor-Leste

In Spite,  there have been 30.949,804 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the world,  including 959,116 deaths, reported to WHO.
