DILI, 24 october 2020 (TATOLI) – Japan Embassy is upholding their longstanding commitment to the development of the human resource capacity for Timorese through a scholarship program.
The ambassador of Japan Masami Kinefuchi held a formal farewell ceremony for fourteen Timorese participants who are going to study masters degrees in Japan. The ceremony was held on October 23, Friday evening.
The Japanese government has provided four subjects of study for participants which are apart of the Japan development scholarship (JDS), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) Global Leader Program, STI-Science, Technology and Innovation and Jica Long Term Training.
The scholarship participants have been selected from different ministries and institutions such as Geology and Petroleum Institution (GPI) Timor Gap, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Tourism Commerce and Industry, National University of Timor Leste (UNTL), Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education and Minister of Interior.
Mr Masami Kinefunchi said the participants would study in different universities across Japan for two years. They will focus on various subjects based on their working discipline areas which are petroleum, public administration, social science, and political science.
The Ambassador also added the importance of this scholarship to improve the capacities of the participants in their working areas.
He also said despite the situation of covid-19 restrictions, and they will set the effort to find the flight for the participants to travel on.
“following the confirmation from the Embassy, one participant will be travel on October 28, 2020, and others will follow,” he said.
The Commissary from Public office (CFP) Antonio Freitas requests the participant to maintain self-discipline during their study.
A scholarship participant Ligia Rozita Viera said as a participant she is proud to have this opportunity, and promise to use this opportunity together with other participants to achieve every objective in every area for them to come back and contribute for the development of Timor-Leste.
The members of National Parliament, the Director of Human Resource Development Fund’s (HRDF), and Leila Cárceres, deputy of National institute public administration (INAP) and others guests were invited at the farewell ceremony.
