DILI, 06 november 2020 (TATOLI)- The Representative of United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF), Valérie Taton has been meeting the Parliamentary Minister and the Ministry for Social and Communication, Francisco Jéronimo to update the Minister on her ending assignment in Timor-Leste during three years and to take up another appointment at UNICEF and also advocate for child rights.
“I have assumed this position in Timor-Leste as the seventh nation, I have assume the same position earlier in a many nations, Timor-Leste is a very good country in a way of cooperating and I have gained many experiences, I wish to continue to do my work here, but my mission is ending here and I should go back,” Valérie Taton told Tatoli at the Government Palace.
Ms Taton hopes for better cooperation to take care of the children’s future in Timor-Leste.
In her mission relating to cooperation, she focuses more on Education, Health and Malnutrition.
“There are several things that have not yet been achieved, but the hope is that these will be continued in the future to guarantee better progress,” she said.
Minister Francisco Jerónimo praised the work of UNICEF that always works on promoting the children interests.
“Today is the last meeting with the Representative of UNICEF to Timor-Leste, Valérie Taton since she received a similar role working in Africa Region. Today she talked about what she has accomplished during her mission,” Minister Jerónimo said.
He observed the cooperation of this organisation as very good and consistent since the first constitutional government until today.
“They have supported the Community Radio, and hope the new head that will come will continue these activities and the program that has been set,” he said.
