Timor-Leste Center for Law to hire international CJL Trainers

DÍLI, 17 november, 2020 (TATOLI) – The Director for the Center of Judicial and Law, Antonino Gonçalves, said their office will recruit international judges’ trainers, a prosecutor, two lawyers and a notary to teach training courses planned for the year 2021.

According to Director Gonçalves, the recruitment of these professionals in the area of ​​justice aims to fill the shortage of human resources in different institutions, such as the courts and the General’s Office Attorney.

“The CJL has sent an order, to the Ministry of Justice to disclose the number of vacancies to be filled, on the 27th of october this year” Director-General of the CJL, to TATOLI, at his office in Caicoli, Dili.

The leader also highlighted that the evaluation process will be carried out from the judges which are national and international, composed of a prosecutor, a public defender and a CJL trainer. The interviews will be held through a videoconference.

Mr Gonçalves added that, the candidates will travel as soon as possible to Timor-Leste to provide the training courses to the 45 trainees.

“As soon as the names of the chosen candidates are notified, they will travel as soon as possible to Timor-Leste to then start the training courses in the legal area to the 45 trainees,” he said.

However, Mr Gonçalves said the CJL is continued to wait for the proposal from the Ministry of Justice regarding the opening of vacancies for 15 judges, 15 prosecutors and 15 public defenders.

“Now we are waiting for the budget for 2021 to be approved by the National Parliament to put an end to the problems that affect the CJL plan”, he concluded.
