MSA-MTCI launch National Market exhibition to celebrate 45th anniversary of Timor Leste Proclamation day

LIQUICA, 22 november 2020 (TATOLI) – The Minister of State Administration (MSA) Miguel De Carvalho along with the Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Industry (MTCI) Jose Lucas Do Carmo Da Silva launch Market Exhibitions to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the proclamation of independence of Timor-Leste during the Portuguese era.

The exhibition focuses on an extensive collection of local food production and the cultural handicrafts from the local communities.

The collection is currently on displays in Lauhata village, Liquica municipality for five days from the 22 to 28 of November 2020.

“We leave no one behind, this event we will allow everyone to participate and feel the 45th anniversary of Timor-Leste proclamation day,” Minister of State Administration, Miguel de Carvalho speech at the event.

Mr Carvalho said the exhibition is part of a project for economic recovery in the post-covid-19 Timor-Leste.

“This event demonstrates our joint efforts in responding to public health issues and is one of many steps involved in our economic recovery for post-covid-19,” he said.

Minister of Tourism Commerce and Industry (MTCI), Jose do Carmo da Silva said, this exhibition offers opportunities to small business groups to sell their local food products and other cultural crafts.

State Institution is also using this market exhibition to showcase its work and programs that they have been doing for the public.

“This event will offer the opportunity to us to see various arts creativity and cultural art production that is promoted in this market,” Minister Silva said.

Tourism Director-General, Jose Quintas said the event has participation from 74 small business groups and 23 Government institutions.

“The exhibition is part of a $44.000 event organised for five days,” Mr Quintas said.
