MAUBARA, 24 november 2020 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) and Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA) along with Local Authority in Liquça municipality launched a project for clean water and sanitation to 125 households in Vatuvou, village.
“The Red Cross has established more than a hundred projects, with support funds from abroad, there still more projects that need the help from the Red Cross, this is the aim of Red Cross, we have provided clean water to this village,” The CVTL President, Madalena Hanjam said during her speech at the launching ceremony.
She said this project is funded by `KOICA and other partners, and the community to carry out the work. “ For this project, We installed 14 reservation tanks to store the water supply and 26 water taps, to supply clean water to 147 households composed of 677 people,” she said.
She added that “the project was implemented across two years (since March 2019- November 2020) for the population at Gariana village. Other communities have submitted their proposals to our office, and we will analyse all the submission and supply the water in the short term. Still, we will prioritise rural communities,” she said.
Ms Hanjam said, the amount used for this project is $55000 additional funding for this have been contributed from Gariana population is $1500, and the fund from KOICA is $4000
She said people in Gariana village now have the responsibility to use clean water which will be beneficial to everybody.
