DILI, 27 november 2020 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste Minister of Transport and Communication (MTC), José Agostinho da Silva meet with the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak to introduce a plan for the creation of a new decree law draft to control the external telecommunication network.
“I met with the Prime Minister to update on progress of the activities from the Ministry as well as the design of a new decree-law draft that regulates the external telecommunications networks,” Minister José Agostinho da Silva said, after the end of the meeting with the Head of Government, in Government’s palace.
Mr Silva stressing that the Government is yet to have a legal mechanism that allows the control of the foreigner’s internet network thus he promised that during his mandate on the 8th Constitutional Government, his ministry will make the effort to speed up the procedures with a view to obtaining the legal instruments.
According to Mr Silva, the law will apply to the agencies and companies that operate the internet service provider (ISP) in Timor-Leste.
“When the decree-law draft is approved the Government will be able to control the illegal acts committed by the companies”, he said
