DILI, 24 december 2020 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste registered a record seven new covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide totally to nine, the country’s health authorities said, Thursday.
Minister of Health, Odete Maria Freitas Belo said, these patients have transferred to the Vera Cruz Dili Isolation Center and Oe-Cusse Isolation Center.
“Today we detected three cases while one was detected yesterday, another three cases were detected in Oe-Cusse and two cases were detected before the Oe-Cusse cases were found out, so the total cases are nine, But I cannot mention the detail of their travel since we have not had the complete datas,” Minister Odete Freitas announced at the press conference.
According to Ms Freitas these cases were four detected at the Tasi Tolu quarantine sites and another three cases were confirmed at the Oe-Cusse Quarantine site.
The surveillance team has been doing the screening process at the Tasi Tolu quarantine after the cases were confirmed, and the 168 people are continued to fulfil their fourteen days of quarantine.
“We have to do the screening to the 168 people since these cases are imported cases and we don’t have any local transmission yet,” Ms Freitas said.
She called on the Timorese people nationwide to wear the masks when attending massive gatherings and festive events during the New Year season and to strictly follow the anti-pandemic measures.
