IWPG Peace & Culture Fair  To promote peace and exchange cultures

DILI, 11 january 2021 (TATOLI) – Amid socio-economic hardships around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Eastern Busan & Gyeongnam Branch of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) held Online Peace & Culture Fair to share groundbreaking ways to achieve peace, IWPG 2021 Annual Plans and to exchange cultures.

The event was held on december 19th  and participated by the 130 centered around the Eastern Busan & Gyeongnam Branch of IWPG, participated in an Online Fair due to COVID-19.

The first section of the Fair was a Peace Fair, followed by the introduction of IWPG and activity reports.

IWPG is an international women’s NGO registered with the United Nations Department of Global Communications (DGC) and has special consultative status with UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

The organization is actively working on initiatives such as women’s peace education, international women’s peace networks and plant peace campaigns at community level.

IWPG is also actively working with other UN women’s organizations to urge for the support and the legalization of an international peace law called the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The IWPG’s direction in 2021 is to produce a large number of peace instructors in Peace Lecturer Training Education.  At the center of it is the revitalization of the Peace Committee.

in 2018 Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation signed the Peace Education MOU to work hand in hand with IWPG to raise awareness about peace to people and also cultivate the women as Peace Educators.

During the event South Korea, Cameroon, Myanmar and Germany were introduced the traditional food to participants while making real food and had a tasting time along with the preparation of the traditional clothes from Myanmar, South Sudan and East Timor.

In this online fair, the Eastern Busan & Gyeongnam Branch of IWPG announced that despite the COVID 19 pandemic, the organization will continue to host online events to further solidify the peace networks and to spread peace culture around the world.

This online event had the form of a webinar, but the program was designed to maximize the atmosphere of the offline event. Although participants could not experience cultures directly because it’s online, people experienced the emotions and specialties they could feel at offline events.
