DILI, 10 february, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers approved a Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak’s proposal regarding the measures to be implemented in the declaration of the state of emergency under the presidential decree.
Following the opinion from the Ministry of Health, the changes highlighted the authorization of foreign citizens to Timor-Leste via land borders will be responsible by the Ministry of Interior
The President for the Council of Minister, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, said the authorization of foreign citizens should be coming from the government body who responsible for the migration service.
“The changes made are essentially aimed at intensifying control of Timor-Leste’s land borders, in addition to ensuring better coordination between government departments. These are responsible for the management of the places where the prophylactic isolation period is fulfilled”, he stressed.
he said previously people who arrived in Timor-Leste via land border will be admitted to Consul post and approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC), yet with the new adjustment the Government assigns Ministry of Interior over the Migration Service to be responsible for controlling the legality of the entry of individuals into national territory.
