TIMOR GAP – Cegelec Oil & Gas sign contract to advance Suai Centre of Excellence in Oil & Gas, Science and Technology

DÍLI, 25 September 2026 (TATOLI) — TIMOR GAP, E.P. and Cegelec Oil & Gas – Timor Branch signed a contract for the provision of technical training support services for the design and construction of the Suai Centre of Excellence in Oil & Gas, Science and Technology, to be implemented over a period of 30 months.

To be developed within the Suai Supply Base, the Centre of Excellence is envisioned as a world-class vocational training institution dedicated to developing a highly skilled Timorese workforce for the oil and gas sector and related industries.

The project will include modern training facilities, specialised workshops, internationally recognised training programmes, quality management systems, and the preparation of Timorese instructors and management personnel.

Under the partnership, TIMOR GAP, E.P., will lead the Centre’s infrastructure development, including its design, construction, commissioning, and ownership of the facility and associated equipment. Cegelec Oil & Gas – Timor Branch will provide technical expertise in training centre development, curriculum design, workshop equipment planning, industry-standard learning systems, and capacity building aligned with internationally recognised OPITO standards.

This initiative represents a significant investment in Timor-Leste’s human capital development, supporting the Government’s long-term vision of building a sustainable national workforce capable of contributing to the energy, industrial, science, and technology sectors.
