DILI, 11 february, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Secretary of State for Youth and Sport (SSYS) Abrão Saldanha held a meeting with the Ambassador of Portugal to Timor-Leste, José Pedro Machado at the SSYS building Dili, to discuss the twelfth Sport Games between the Portugues language community (CPLP) that will take in Timor-Leste next year.
Speaking after the meeting, The Secretary of SYS, Abrão Saldanha said, the Portugal Government will provide the support to Timor-Leste with regards to various supports, such as athletics, basketball, football, volleyball, karate, chess and table tennis.
“I had a meeting with the Ambassador of Portugal, various aspects were discussed in association with the holding of the 12th edition of the CPLP Games in Timor-Leste,” SSYS, Abrão Saldanha said after meeting with the Ambassador at SSYS residence.
However, Saldanha said there is no concrete date for the realization of the event, adding that the decision will be made next week during the council of minister meeting.
He also highlighted the supports that will be provided by the Portugal’s Government which will be focused on the human resources in the most technical aspect in order to ensure the success of the CPLP games.
The Ambassador of Portugal, José Pedro Machado, said, in turn, that the Portuguese Executive willing to assist the Timor-Leste in holding the CPLP Games.
“We talked about the realization of the CPLP games that will take place next year in Timor-Leste, as they had to be postponed because of the new coronavirus,” Ambasador José Pedro Machado said.
According to Ambassador Machado, the CPLP event normally participate by thousands of people and it constitutes international event.
