Covid-19: Classes are suspended for one week by the ME

DILI, 8 march , 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MEJD) decided to suspend all teaching activities for a week in across Dili, after the two active cases of covid-19 were detected.

The two infected, residing in the area of ​​Tasi-Tolu, village of Terra Santa Dili, are neighbors of an infected person detected in Baucau.

The Minister of Education, Armindo Maia, revealed that the Council of Ministers decided to impose a sanitary fence and mandatory confinement for a week, from march 9 until march 15 of this year.

“We are going to issue the order this afternoon to make some adjustments to the Government’s resolution on the sanitary fence. A suspense of the face-to-face learning process starting tomorrow and runs until March 15, ” Minister Maia said.

Meanwhile he said, Covalima keeps the schools closed between 27 February and 13 March.

“After the 13th, we will review the order issued by the office of the Ministry. We will carry out an assessment and make some adjustments,” he said.

It is recalled that the MEJD issued ministerial order on the suspension of classes based on the recommendations from the Integrated Crisis Management Center (CIGC).

The resolution highlighted the prohibition of any social, cultural, sporting or religious events that involve the gathering of people.

Timor-Leste currently registers 28 infections and 122 infections since the emergence of the new coronavirus, with 98 people already recovered.
