DILI, march 21 2021 (TATOLI) – The number of Covid-19 in Timor-Leste rises after the Health Authority identified 55 additional of covid infections which is also a highest number recorded by the MoH since the outbreak of the local transmission begun.
Between the number, 43 infections were identified accross Dili, 11 cases from Baucau municipaity and one case identified in Viqueque municipality.
Authority also reported three patients have recovered from the disease, so the total active cases is 206.
The coordinator of the Covid-19 Outbreak in Timor-Leste at the Integrated Crisis Management Center (CIGC), Rui De Araújo, said the active cases in Dili has been raised to 179 since the outbreak on march 07 with 34 clusters.
Of the 43 infections, one case is related to the health professionals at the Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares (HNGV). The infected person lives in the Berbidu area, Becora village.
There are nine more Cases in Bidau Tokobaru 2, in Kuluhun village, contacts close to this focus reported yesterday.
The other 26 cases were identified in the area of 20 de Setembro, Bebonuk village, whose infection resulted from close contacts from the outbreak in the same village. In addition, seven cases were reported in the area of Grilos, in Gricenfor village contacts of an infected person from the previous outbreak at the same village.
Covid-19 in Baucau
Baucau Health Authority reports 11 more cases of coronavirus. All the infected people live in Bulai Village, in Buibau, in Baucau city. These cases linked to outbreak on march 19 at the village of Lamegua, with the new cases bring the number of total cases to in Baucau to 19.
Viqueque Municipality
The authority records one additional case. the infected person lives in the area of Mamaluk at Karaubalu village. the person has the close contact with a Health Professional who took a posts-employment course at the National University of Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL), the health profesional traveled to the municipality on march 8. with regards to the new confirmed case in Viqueque, bring the total number of active cases in Viqueque to four.
The Coordinator of COVID-19 Crisis team, Rui de Araujo affirmed among the 55 new cases, 23 are men and 32 are women. with the age range from 14 to 67 years old.
However Nine infected people have symptoms and 46 are asymptomatic. Since yesterday, 452 laboratory tests have been performed.
“One patient is in moderate category. the patient also suffers a chronic kidney failure and has been on dialysis for two years. Thus yesterday he had problem with oxygen and required respiratory support, but in the recent afternoon, he was already in a stable condition, ” Araújo said.
at the same time Araujo also informed that a 27-year-old pregnant woman has suffered a hemorrhage caused by an abortion, the second, according to her medical history. She was transferred to the Vera Cruz Isolation Center for the treatment.
With regards to the number of active cases that continue to rise MoH reiterated its appeal to the entire populations across the country to ensure that they comply with covid-19 protocol.
