DILI, 28 april 2021 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste on Wednesday confirmed 76 new COVID-19 cases and 45 more recoveries in the past 24 hours, the country’s Covid Crisis team said in a statement.
Of the new cases, 75 were found in the capital Dili and one in Oé-Cusse Raeoa, so the country currently has 1,014 active infections, 2,124 confirmed cases, and three deaths since the emergence of the new coronavirus.
The Coordinator of the COVID-19 Crisis Center, Rui de Araújo said, Among today’s cases, 59 were detected following requests for traveling authorization and have already made the trip.
“the infections announced today, 48 are men including 28 women. Eight patients have symptoms and the rest are asymptomatic,” Mr Araújo said.
Araújo also stated that the National Health Laboratory (LNS) carried out 736 laboratory tests, five of which in the context of sentinel surveillance, 38 for contact screening, 161 for random screening, 508 for requests to leave Dili Municipality, and 24 for international travel
He added that the Vera Cruz Isolation Center has now accommodated 23 patients of covid-19, including ten in the area of obstetrics, ten in internal medicine, and three in pediatrics.
Regarding the cases detected by municipality, since the emergence of the new coronavirus, Aileu has six, Ainaro 17, Baucau 92, Bobonaro 16, Covalima 52, Díli 1,794, Ermera 43, Lautém 12, Liquiçá 14, Manatuto five, Manufahi 52 , RAEOA seven and Viqueque 14.

Timor-Leste began a COVID-19 inoculation drive on April 7. As of Friday (23/04/021), more than 20.526 out of the country’s 1,338,954 population had been vaccinated against the virus, following the report from the Ministry of Health.
