DILI, 16 june 2021 (TATOLI)-Indonesian Ambassador to Timor-Leste Sahat Sitorus said Brucellosis disease infected on buffalo and cows must be eradicated immediately, otherwise the buffalo and cows belonging to farmers will die and will greatly affect economic growth of people.
“Therefore the Ministry of Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia through the Embassy in Timor-Leste had held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture along with the National Director of Livestock last week to discuss this issue and have agreed to continue in doing the cooperation for eradicating Bruceles disease on cows and buffaloes in 2023,” said the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Sitorus to TATOLI News Agency Journalist at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Farol Dili, on wednesday.
Sitorus explained that Timor-Leste is a country with great potential to raise buffalo and cows.
Therefore, to increase production of buffalo and cow farms, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries must first eradicate this Brucellosis disease.
Sitorus said the Republic of Indonesia is still importing Buffaloes and Cows from India for consumption, therefore if there are plenty of Buffaloes and Cows in Timor-Leste, the Republic of Indonesia will cooperate with Timor-Leste to export buffaloes and Cows from Timor-Leste to the Republic of Indonesia.
In this way, the people’s economy will grow significantly and will motivate farmers to keep buffalo and cows for export to the Republic of Indonesia in the future.
