COVID-19 update: CIGC reports 29 new cases, 63 recoveries, and active cases at 1.059

DILI, 20 june 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste today, registered 29 new cases of COVID-19, with 63 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.059.

Of the new cases, 23 were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were detected in the municipalities, including 2 in Bobonaro, and 4 in Manatuto municipality.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 29 new cases, 10.3 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today’s cases, 27 were between the age of 12 and 59, including a child under 12 and 1 elderly person over 60.

Araujo added 22 patients were under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and 3 patients were in critical condition.

In the last 24 hours, The National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 560 PCR tests, including 4 sentinel surveillance tests, 13 through contact tracing, 183 via random screening, 348 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, and 12 for the international travel authorization.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.6 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Baucau municipality 11.1, in Dili 10.2 and Manatuto 6.4.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 8.707 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 7.629 recoveries, active cases were 1.059 and 19 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
