COVID-19 update: CIGC reports 53 new cases, 95 recoveries and active cases at 1.000

DILI, 22 june 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste today, registered 53 new cases of COVID-19, with 95 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.000.

Of the new cases, 34 were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were detected in the municipalities, including 1 in Ainaro, 5 in Bobonaro, 2 in ermera, 5 in Manufahi and 3 each in Mantuto and Viqueque municipality.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 53 new cases, 9.4 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today’s cases, 49 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including 2 children under 12 and 2 elderly persons over 60. These news cases were made up of 34 male and 19 female.

Araujo added 18 patients were under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and 2 patients were in critical condition.

Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 884 PCR tests, including 12 sentinel surveillance tests, 25 through contact tracing, 68 via random screening, 701 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 15 for the international travel authorization and 23 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Baucau municipality 9.8, Dili 8.1 and Manatuto 7.2.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 8.781 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 7.762 recoveries, active cases were 1.000 and 19 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
