DILI, 06 july 2021 (TATOLI) – MARY MACKILLOP Today (MMT), hands over humanitarian support to Secretary of State for Civic Protection (SSCP) to distribute to the victims that were affected by natural disaster.
MMT is Australian non-government organization (NGO) that focuses on implementing education programs to ensure all children are able to access the learning process.
The aim of this ceremony, Merry MACKILLIP Today conveys the sympathy of solidarity to the affected people that happened last april.
“MARY MACKILLOP today thanked the opportunity to take part for offering humanitarian assistance such as food items on the coordination with SSCP to ensure the overlapping distribution for the affected people,” MARY MACKILLOP country director, Alipio Baltazar told to Tatoli Agency, at Caicoli, this tuesday.
He added that MARY MACKILLOP Today also provided some funds to rehabilitate three schools building in three Atauro, Ermera, Manufahi municipalities MMACKILLOP has responsibility to help out the country while facing natural disaster as the victims are in need of humanitarian assistance.
The humanitarian support composed of food items composed of 162 sacks of rice, 235 noodles, 27 of cooking oil, three boxes salts and one box MASAKO cooking item. Those items will benefit the victims in Cristo Reis sub district and Becora village.
The General Director of Secretary of State for Civic Protection, Ismael Babo thanked to the MARY MACKILLOP Today for offered humanitarian assistance to distribute to the victims who affected by calamity situation. It is positive initiative to help Timor-Leste government to help victims who are in needed.
“All through the period of disaster has been pasted however the solidarity sense still on people heart to continue helps other people,” Said Babo
The Chief of the Department of Emergency, Ermelida Pires said that this humanitarian support will be distributed to the 400 families affected by floods. The appreciation of SSCP for the MARRY MACKILLOP Today, helps victims to respond for their basic needs.
Currently, humanitarian assistance, which is provided by the Secretary State for Civic protection and international partners, has reached 19.185 victims and accumulated to 63 % and the victims do not receive support with the number of 11.135. Accumulated to 37%.
The consequence of the natural disaster caused 30 fatality and 14 still missing and total for victim death are 44.
MARRY MACKILLOP Today, has been established in Timor-Leste since 1994, and focuses on education programs and provides teachers and parents training for promoting Tetun Literacy and Health Literacy.
