DILI, 09 july 2021 (TATOLI) – World Vision in Timor-Leste (WVTL) helps all children to achieve a safe life and bright future. WVTL also has a dedication to safe vulnerable families in the society and mitigating underprivileged and injustice to all people.
WVTL works to ensure all children in Timor-Leste to live in dignity and benefit from all protection for childhood, especially for children in project coverage’s areas.
“With a mission to protect children WVTL has integrated in some programs to ensure all children can achieve their bright future,” The Operations Manager, Humbelino Pereira told to TATOLI Agency in his office in Bidau Mota Klaran, this thursday.
There are five main programs implemented in the program’s area in some municipalities composed of Aileu affiliated to Ermera, Baucau affiliated to Manatuto, and Maliana, also in Covalima.
He added that the five main programs are Child Health and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Child Protection and Gender Equality, Resilience, Livelihoods and Advocacy.
“Prevention and awareness to address child malnutrition, stunting and child mortality. Holistic approach to maternal newborn, child health and nutrition, considering sustainable access to health, water and sanitation services. Integration of nutrition-sensitive agriculture,” said Operation Manager Pereira
He added to ensure children must address gender based violence and violence against children. Community- based disaster risk management capacity and climate change adaptation.
The children’s parents must have access to small business development, access to market and savings groups, and the emergence of digital technology for financial inclusion.
Advocacy, awareness campaign to end violence against children at home, it is the engagement of government and church.
Mr. Pereira said it is 45% of children under 0-5 are suffering from malnutrition, as WVTL focuses on children under 0-5 ages beside that program implementation also offered to children with age for 5 -18.
Due to financial matters WVTL should not achieve output to reduce 5% of children suffering from malnutrition for five years old project implementation.
Based on the pandemic situation the project evaluation is temporarily suspended and it will be carried out next year to find the project impact for the children.
World Vision Timor-Leste is one of Christian non-government organizations and has been established since 1995, after the country declared its independence in 1999. World Vision came with the name World Vision Timor-Leste.
