DILI, 11 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, reports 57 new cases of COVID-19, with 61 recoveries, and the active cases were 902.
Of the new cases, 30 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 20 in Baucau, three in Ermera, and one each in Aileu, Covalima, RAEOA, and Viqueque municipality.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 57 new cases, 5.2 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, 53 cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including two children under 12 and two elderly persons over 60. These new cases were made up of 37 men and 20 women.
Araújo informed that 16 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where two patients were in critical condition.
Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 453 PCR tests, including three sentinel surveillance tests, 14 through contact tracing, 44 via random screening, 340 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 42 for the international travel authorization and 10 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 9.6, Baucau 6.5, and Viqueque 3.4.
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO, saying it is important for everyone to keep combating the spread of the virus in the country by obeying public health and social measures. Despite the country has been recording a relatively lower number of COVID-19 infections currently, in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 9.823 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.896 recoveries, active cases were 902 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 230.914 (30.6%) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the number, around 32.804 (4.35%) have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
