DILI, 21 july 2021 (TATOLI) – AstraZeneca vaccine solidarity aid from Portugal has arrived in Timor-Leste.
This solidarity assistance is 12.000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine which was donated by Portugal to Timor-Leste to vaccinate the people of Timor-Leste in preventing the surge of COVID-19 in Timor-Leste.
The 12.000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine was transported by aircraft Euro Atlantic from Portugal and arrived at Timor-Leste International Nicolau Lobato Airport Comoro at 06:30.
After landing, it was immediately picked up by the Interim Director of SAMES Francisco Borges.
When receiving 12,000 doses of the AstraZeneca Vaccine, Borges on behalf of the Timor-Leste government expressed his deep gratitude to the Portugal government for donating the AstraZeneca vaccine to Timor-Leste.
“The cooperation between Timor-Leste and Portugal has been around for a long time and this assistance is a form of the solidarity from the Portuguese people for the people of Timor-Leste in dealing with COVID-19 in Timor-Leste,” said Borges at the international airport of Nicolau Lobato, Comoro to Journalist of TATOLI News Agency on tuesday.
The 12.000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine has been stored at SAMES and the Covax Facility secretariat from the Ministry of Health will administer and after that it will be distributed to health centers throughout Timor-Leste to vaccinate the people of Timor-Leste.
Previously, humanitarian assistance AstraZeneca Vaccine from Australia had also arrived in Timor-Leste and the AstraZeneca vaccine from Australia was still taking place in various health centers in Timor-Leste in general.
