DILI, july 29, 2021 (Tatoli)- United Nation World Food Program (UNWFP) offers covid-19 protection materials and logistic to the Minister of Education Youth and Sport (MEYS).
The protection materials will distribute to teachers and students in every school to use during the learning process.
The items including 17.000 boxes of face mask, 450 pallets, and 6 mobile warehouses.
The UNWFP country Director representative in Timor-Leste, Dengen Liu said that these items are offered to help students to comply with covid-19 measures implemented by the WHO and MoH.
“The WFP is privileged to support MoEYS with some items to ensure the students can access schools during the pandemic,” Mr. Liu said at the Office of MoEYS Vila Verde Dili.
Mr. Liu said the six mobile warehouses will use to store the foods for the school feeding program and ensuring all primary students in TL can consume healthy and nutritive foods.
“The students must be having healthy life to participate school learning process,” he said.
Following the record data from the WFP, about 70.000 million global children from fewer development countries did not consume nutritive food before the pandemic hit the world.
Thus, it is the most important job for UNWFP to provide nutritive foods for children around the world through a school feeding program including the 70.000 million children recorded by the UNWFP.
The Minister of Education youth and sport, Armindo Maia said, this protective equipment will distribute to students in all municipalities, to protect the students from the harmful of the virus.
Maia considers the School feeding program is one of the important programs to help children growing healthy and also invest children for the future, especially for human resource development, thus the mobile warehouses will distribute to the municipality to support school feeding program activities.
Likewise, Mr. Maia expresses his deep gratitude to the WFP for providing this assistance for MoEYS.
It is recalled that the prime minister of Taur Matan Ruak has signed an agreement for the implementation of the school feeding program last 14, June.
This agreement was signed by PM Taur Matan Ruak and the WFP to ensure all students consume nutritive foods.
