DILI, 12 august 2021 (TATOLI) – The Secretary of State for Youth and Sport (SEJD) urged the students of Cablaqui Community Development Center (CCDC) to dream big.
“I appreciate the collaboration of CCDC and the Foinsa’e Dom Boaventura Maun-Fahe Youth Center (CEFOBOM) in providing capacity building and training to our young people. For all of CCDC’s students, I want you to dream big. You need to see your future in your dreams,” the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, Abrão Saldanha made the comments during the inauguration of CCDC’s public sanitary, in Holarua village, in Manufahi municipality, on Thursday.
Saldanha said youth are the symbol of new hope and new dreams and are the future for a country: “On ‘International Youth Day,’ let us guide and support our young people to promote our locally grown food as they are our tomorrow and our hope.”
“I want CCDC to include a program called ‘Life Skills Based Education (LSBE)’ to educate these young people to have a future dream,” said Saldanha.
He said many young people in Timor-Leste, including university students, don’t have a dream, saying, and therefore, teaching young people to plan their future profession is important.
“You need to have a dream of becoming an engineer, pilot, doctor, rocket designer, etc. Don’t be ashamed to dream and you can make your dreams come true,” added Saldanha.
At the same place, the Executive Director of CCDC, Carlito Marcal informed that CCDC was established in 2017, saying currently more than 100 students are studying at CDCC in three programs – IT, Horticulture, English Language.
“CCDC was established on December 5, 2017, and due to the increase in the number of students at CCDC means weed more spaces to accumulate these young people. Many students want to study here, but unfortunately, we don’t have enough spaces to take more students,” said Marcal.
