COVID-19 update: TL records 151 infections, 40 recoveries

DILI, 14 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 151 new cases, 40 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.940.

Of the new cases, 100 were detected in Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 18 in Ermera, 16 in Liquica, seven in RAEOA, three in Ainaro, two each in Baucau, Bobonaro, and Covalima, and one in Viqueque.

The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said of today’s cases, 37.1 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today’s cases, 106 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including 36 cases under 20 years and nine elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 70 men and 81 women.

Araujo informed that 37 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where nine patients were in critical condition.

In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 475 PCR tests, including 32 sentinel surveillance tests, 129 through contact tracing, 63 via random screening, 195 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 24 for international travel authorization and 32 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 10.3 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 20.9, Ermera 13.9, Covalima 10.7, RAEOA 9.7, Bobonaro 6.7, Ainaro 6.1, and Aileu 5.6.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus as the SIJK’s records showed cases are again mounted in Dili, Ermera and several municipalities.

Health authorities warned that the Delta variant may have spread to other municipalities, where cases are spiked recently.

There has been a total of 12.423 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 10.454 recoveries, active cases were 1.940 and 29 deaths, according to SIJK’s data.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 44.9 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 16.8 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
