DILI, 16 august 2021 (TATOLI) – The Tranship II ship of the ATRALATA ESTRATEGIA Company from Gresik Indonesia chartered by the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MTK) facilitated by the Timor Leste Port Authority (APORTIL) on 25 May is suspected of having irregularities.
This irregularity was previously discovered by the Anti-Corruption Commission (CAC) led by Deputy of CAC Luis Olivera and the unit investigation team had inspected the Tranship II ferry at the Dili port on suspicion that the ship was not fit to operate in Timor Leste because it was very difficult to dock at the Dili port, Autauro, and Oekuse.
The inspection found a lot of rusted iron and many straps that were no longer fit for use.
CAC had submitted all the inspection reports to the Timor Leste Public Prosecutor (PP) for further processing.
Under the investigative analysis from the PP, the Dili District Court (TDD) has given a mandate with No Nuc 007 /21. CAC, to carry out a sudden inspection at the APORTIL office, the Cabotage department to confiscate the procurement documents, as evidence to investigate irregularities carried out by APORTIL and influence the decision of the Ministry of Tourism Commerce and Industry (MTK)regarding the arrival of the Ferry Tranship II to temporarily replace the Berlin – Nakroma Ferry and Success ship.
The confiscation of goods and documents was led by the head of the CAC Investigator Euclides Madeira and accompanied by the Police Investigation Unit (PNSK) to ensure security at APORTIL.
Previously, this Tranship II Ferry has been operating in Oekusi-Atauro -Dili with a capacity of 300 passengers, 1000 tons of cargo with a $220,000 per month rental fee.
