DILI, 17 august 2021 (TATOLI)– The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) and the Indonesian community in Timor-Leste celebrated Indonesian 76th Independence Day on Tuesday.
The celebrations kicked off with the flag hoisting ceremony by the Indonesian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Sahat Sitorus.
“Despite rising COVID-19 cases here compelled us to mark our 76th Independence Day, we thanked the Government and People of Timor-Leste for allowing us to celebrate this event,” Ambassador Sahat Sitorus said.
Since the theme for this year is Indonesian Resilient and Indonesia Grown, Ambassador Sitorus encourage all the Indonesia Citizens to have a strong spirit to build a resilient and better Indonesia.
“We hope that Indonesia and Timor- Leste, will continue to increase the cooperation in all fields and become trusted friends. We believe that both countries must have the same step toward the progress,” Sahat told reporters after the flag-raising ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy, Farol Dili today.
At the same time, Ambassador Sitorus call on all the Indonesian community in Dili to respect the rules and regulation which has been implemented by the Timorese Government.
“I appealed to all Indonesian citizenship residing in Timor-Leste to follow the rule and regulation that is been implemented and let us gather together to build Timor-Leste and help each other who are in needed,” He said
In the same place, Nelly Ronald Roho an Indonesian Citizens who reside in Dili said with this celebration she hopes both countries will become more united and strong in the friendship.
“I hope that through this celebration and relationship Indonesia and Timor-Leste will maintain both’s relationships, to unite as brothers and make the progress for both countries, “She said.
