DILI, 18 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, reports two more deaths, 226 new cases, 63 recoveries, and the active cases were 2.507.
Of the new cases, 167 were detected in Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 18 in Covalima, 10 in Manufahi, nine in Baucau, five in RAEOA, three each in Ainaro, Bobonaro, and Viqueque, and one in Manatuto.
The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said of today’s cases, 37.6 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, 179 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including 38 cases under 20 and nine elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 118 men and 107 women.
Araujo informed that there are currently 59 Covid-19 cases had been admitted to Vera Cruz Isolation Center, with 19 people in critical condition, one of whom required ventilation.
In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 756 PCR tests, including 26 sentinel surveillance tests, 370 through contact tracing, 54 via random screening, 215 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 30 for the international travel authorization, and 91 in quarantines.
Today, SIJK registered two deaths, consisting of a pregnant mother and her unborn baby.
The deceased was a pregnant mother in his 30s, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 and being transferred to the Vera Cruz Isolation Center (VCIC) on august 8. She passed away today with her unborn baby, at 1 am local time, at VCIC, due to multiple organ failure.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 13.9 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 33.6, Ermera 12.6, RAEOA 12.3, Covalima 10.3, Ainaro 7.8, Baucau and Liquica 5.8 each, Manufahi 5.7, and Aileu 5.0.
The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus as the SIJK’s records showed cases are again mounted in Dili, Ermera and several municipalities.
Health authorities warned that the Delta variant may have spread to other municipalities, where cases are spiked recently.
There has been a total of 13.155 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 10.608 recoveries, active cases were 2.507 and 40 deaths, according to SIJK’s data.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 46.2 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 19.0 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
