Poetry
By:
Dionisio de Jesus Lopes
From a modest and humble family you were born,
Being a person with proper culture you remained,
Constantly you learned truly by your own,
Unceasingly seeking for a wisdom and maintained.
In everything that you did, you persistently sought for perfection,
Efficiency and efficacy are always in your conduct and action,
Before you left the Dare seminary to fight against the tyranny,
You humbly requested for a Mass to be solemnly heard.
As a farewell with your own word you said:
“Please say a Mass for me if I die”
Your people then paid respect for your struggle,
To liberate this country, this people, this blood,
We consecrate your Catholic Faith and your last word.
Pray for us continuously, Nicolau dos Reis Lobato…
