DILI, 29 September 2021 (TATOLI) — the government of Timor-Leste, through the meeting of the Council of Ministers, today, had decided to lift the sanitary fence in the capital Dili, starting at 23:59 on 29 September 2021.
Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães informed that the decision was taken after reviewing the presentation of the epidemiological situation of the country, given by the Coordinators of the Situation Room of the Integrated Centre for Crisis Management (CIGC).
“Through the meeting of the Council of Ministers, we agreed not to extend the sanitary fence in Dili, which means that the sanitary fence in Dili is lifted,” Magalhães told reporters after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, at the Palace of Government, in Dili, today.
He said, therefore, the movement of the citizens between Dili and Municipalities as well as between the municipalities across the territory will no longer prohibit, but calling on communities to obey and follow the Covid-19 guideline and safety regulations recommended by the Ministry of Health and WHO to keep fighting the spread of coronavirus.
According to CIGC data had indicated that there was a sharp decrease in the active cases of Covid-19 recently.
As of Thursday (29/9), there has been a total of 19.455 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 18.562 recoveries, active cases were 778 and 115 deaths, according to SIJK’s data.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 58.7 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 36.1 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
