Covid-19 Update: 10 new cases detected in TL, 42 recoveries

DILI, 09 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, 10 new COVID-19 cases were detected Timor-Leste, with 42 recoveries, and the active cases dropped to 247, said Rui Maria de Araujo, the Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK).

According to today’s figure, four new cases were detected in each Dili and Baucau, one each in Covalima and RAEOA.

Araujo said 10 percent of the new cases had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 40 percent are fully vaccinated. These 10 new cases include four men and six women.

Of the new cases, eight were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a case under 20 and an elderly person over 60.

Araujo said 50 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic.

There are 22 people with COVID-19 in hospital and four of those are in critical condition, with two on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 63 PCR tests, including one through sentinel surveillance test, 21 through random screening, three for the international travel authorization, and 38 in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.651 cases, 19.253 recoveries, and 119 deaths.

Since april 20, SIJK has recorded a total of 19.661 cases of COVID-19, 19.295 recoveries, and 119 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 64.1 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 40.4 percent have been fully vaccinated.
