DILI, 13 october 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste to launch COVID-19 Pfizer vaccination campaign on october 25, for children age 12 to 17.
“We have been speaking to parents, teachers, and the students themselves that the start of the vaccinations for 212.000 school children and 41.000 unschooled minors will be on october 25, 2021,” Director-General of the Health Service Delivery, Odete da Silva Viegas told reporters, in Dili, on wednesday.
She said the vaccination will be administered first for the 212.000 school children from year 6 to 11 across the country.
The COVAX Facility has confirmed that the donation of the 100.620 doses of the Pfizer vaccines to arrive in Timor-Leste on october 16 from the USA.
School children will receive the vaccines at school, while unschooled kids will get vaccinated at the health care facilities.
She said vaccination is not mandatory for every child, adding, therefore, children need parental consent to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
